SATMA Awards nomination process
The public nomination process is a transparent and inclusive process. The Nominations and Voting Process is as follows:

Submit favourite musician
Public submits their favourite Traditional Musician to the SATMA AWARDS as from Midnight of the SATMA AWARDS Launch. The qualifying album should have been released from February to March of the year in question. Radio, TV and Print Media Announcements are made urging the Public to submit their favourite Traditional Musician through by filling of Forms accessible through our website

Verification of Nominations
Verification of the received Nominations is done with the relevant structures like SABC PBS Radio Stations, Community Radio Stations, Icons and Legends of Traditional Music and Record Companies.

SATMA Awards Committee selection
The SATMA AWARDS Committee selects three Finalists per category based on the verification results and the nominations received from the Public. This applies to all categories except for Best Traditional DJ PBS Radio Station, where there are more than 3 nominations.

Official Nominee Announcement
SATMA AWARDS officially announce the Nominees per category. The public is urged to vote for their favourite Nominee through TV, Radio and Print Media by SMS. This process begins from Midnight on the day of the Announcing of the Nominees until midnight on day before the Awards Ceremony.

Eligibility
Who Can Participate
The voting line is open to everyone except:
- Directors, members, partners, employees, agents, and consultants of the SATMA AWARDS, SABC, DSAC, and/or the voting line promoters.
- Their spouses, life partners, parents, children, brothers, sisters, business partners, or associates.

Voting
Voting Period
- The voting line is open from:
- 1st March 2024 @ 00:00.
- Votes/entries received after this date/time will not be considered.

Casting Votes
Unlimited Voting
- There are no limits to the votes – you can cast as many votes as you want.
- Each SMS entry is charged at a premium rate of R1.50 per minute.
- To vote, send an SMS to 4**9*.
Terms and Conditions
- The SATMAs accepts no responsibility for:
- Problems or technical malfunctions of any communication network.
- Late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, or corrupted entries.
- The SATMAs is not liable for any costs incurred, responses received, or any other consequences of user error.
- The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered. The SATMAs will not be held responsible for any disputes arising from the voting line or prize awards.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and agree to be bound by them when entering.
- The SATMAs reserves the right to cancel, modify, or amend the voting line at any time, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
- No persons under the age of 12 years are eligible to enter, unless supervised by a parent or guardian.
- If an entrant contravenes these rules, the entrant may, at the discretion of the SATMA Awards, be disqualified from the voting line.
Judging Criteria
The panel of judges is constituted by Musical Icons and Experts representing all ethnic backgrounds. Judges score counts for 60% of the total judging score and public votes count for 40% (sms). Counting process begins 5 days before closing date and is monitored by independent auditors. The final judging and auditing is done on the last day of public voting.
After judging has been completed the result are handed over to Auditors. The Rules of Entry are available on the Nomination Form that the public downloads from our website in order to nominate their favourite artists or groups.
The SATMA Awards strives to ensure that the Awards are credible, results are accurate and the deserving artists win.
